Pillar of reality. This is a concept I use in conversation with others. I use it to convey the complete overwhelming difference between individuals based on their beliefs. Let me clarify before we move on, by belief I am not just referring to religion. I am encompassing everything that makes up a person’s personality and their actuality. That being said, I have something to say. Music is a pillar of my reality. I do everything with music. There are certain songs or albums that are intrinsically tied to my life. The emotions that come forth when a specific tune is played, reminds me how important music is to my life.

Communication. The one thing that allows the colossal societies that have existed across the centuries is the basis for music. The communication of ideas, emotions, and thought to enrich and illuminate. It is constantly transcending natural and/or man-made barriers. It carries with it the Beat of Life. The sound of the earth, the sky, and the ocean. The faint melody of the inaudible breath of Gaea. The primal song of existence. Through it we communicate with ourselves, each other, and our environment. Through it we convey the substance of our individual and collective divinity.

Identity. A measure of our identity comes from the music we listen to. I’m not referring to the extent of one’s musical library on whatever device one should prefer. I’m talking about the stuff you play in your car on a regular basis. Like every day. Your daily tunes, if you will. The genre, subject matter, and overall atmosphere of these songs are why we choose them for quotidian listening. It is an identifying mark. There is so much that can be said about the music we listen to and what is going on in our lives.

Soul. So I end with the comprehensive concept of the universe, or so I think. The alignment and opening of the chakras leads to a better understanding of the singular and the multiple, and song has an incredible ability to lead you down the path of insight. It can open up the core of our very being to connect with the entirety of the cosmos. Open your soul and let your thoughts be heard. Paint sound across the canvas of reality.
