I’m not sure what I’m going to write about in this post. I just know that I need to write. I need to relieve the pressure that builds up inside. There are days where my mind feels like it’s going to implode and scatter my essence across an infinite number of reverberating cross-dimensions. Those are the days when I’m not sure what exactly is going on. It could be work, or school. Maybe tension at home or those thoughts about myself that can destroy my morale more thoroughly than anyone else’s words. The typical things we all deal with.

So, here I am, exhausted from lack of sleep, writing. I was just thinking a few hours ago how really amazing it is to be able to read and write. I was watching Ran directed by Akira Korusawa ( I haven’t finished it yet. The movie is almost three hours long!) and there was a scene where the Great Lord was forced to sign a pledge by his son. As I watched him pick up the brush and sign the paper, I started to think about Japanese writing systems and then how we all have writing systems and what that means. The ability to organize and produce your thoughts onto an item that will last for some time, the Universe permitting. Or, as they say in Arabic, Insha’Allah. I am thankful for my ability to read and write and even more thankful for my talent with these two abilities.

Back to the Arabic, I’m going to expand this into language. Have you ever taken your time to think about how long it took for a group of people to decide that these sounds coming out of my mouth mean tree? It makes me more appreciative of language. How appreciative of having language are you? It allows us to communicate and fill in our lives with enriching events. But then, it goes beyond that. It goes into body language and how we interact physically and spatially. For example, you know that little head bobble that Indians do? That has to be one of my favorite instances of body language. I have absolutely no idea what it means, but I love seeing it. It’s so………Indian. Have you thought about your body language and the culturally specific aspects of it? I think about things like this all the time.

Just sharing a few thoughts.
